Time Is Flying

Time seems to be zipping by. Chester and I have been working hard to accomplish some of our goals. Chester's first term in school was awesome, straight As actually. And he is loving it. Always ready to share and practice what he's learning. My first semester in grad school is going fast too. I've already started talking to my adviser about my second year, WHAT!! I just started, at least that's what it feels like. We are both still working at Pottery Barn Kids and I'm still at Newark Emergency Services for Families. We are also working on getting more skills to get our organization started.

A Lot's Going On

Ok Majuta Journey bloggowers, it's been 3 weeks since we arrived and a lot has been going on. Let me just make the update quick.

Chester had a good first flight (even though it was a pretty long one) he felt a little queezy during the take offs and landings of the first 2 but then by the third time he was fine. We landed and jumped right into the swing of things and headed to pick up Dee Dee and go to Jaden's football game. We headed to Baltimore that first week for a job interview at Johns Hopkins University and my dad got to meet Chester for the first time.

First flight!!

The interview went well and my dad and Chester's introduction was great too. That sunday,
which marked our first full week here, my family hosted a small welcome back cookout that turned out to be a small family reunion. IT WAS GREAT!! And of course everyone loved Chester and had so many ideas to help him get comfortable.

The last week and a half has been filled with a bunch of running around, visits, cleaning, and of course a WHOLE LOT OF EATING :). Still searching for a job and looking at apartments and furniture, even though we don't have jobs yet, but we will be ready when it comes. LOL. Chester has been painting a lot lately and it is so exciting to see him motivated to paint again. His work is amazing and although he's working on a porfolio to apply to schools, people are already asking how much his work costs. Good to know that people are interested, right.

Chester's Work

We've been missing some aspects of home (Botswana). I could go for a community day or a King's Foundation outreach right about now. And I keep hearing "dada da da daduda, dada da da daduda" Yall no what that is right? BTV theme song. We have been getting a few looks as we blast a bit of Vee and Chester Majuta "the Real Champion" in the car.

Overall it's nice to be back and although we have become patient and are loving the support of the family we can't wait to get our own place and start settling in to set up as a family. We are growing closer and closer together and it's so nice to have each other as we are both going through this transition. Talk to yall soon...

Click here to listen to the full album.

So we are leaving Botswana tomorrow and today Chester’s album was reviewed on “Flava Dome” (a local music show similar to 106&Park). SO EXCITING!!! What a way to go.

Farewells from the people we love

Two pictures of the YOHO crew at dinner

So we are almost out of Botswana and YOHO and the Majutas throw us farewell gatherings and we were really feeling the love. We went out to dinner with YOHO on wednesday and had a braai at the Majuta house on Saturday. Both evenings were a blast and made us think about the people we are parting with. In my (Jillian) two years here I’ve developed relationships with great people and Chester is leaving a world that he’s been in for his entire life. I just loved that both events were full of joy ( with a little extra excitement on Saturday night, don’t want to go into too much details, let’s just say people need to think twice before messing with the Majutas lol). We have truly been blessed with being surrounded by great people ALL the time. Thank you to all of you who have contributed to who we are today. Here are a few pix from our two gatherings.

Luv ya!

Our Life Journey

Hello, Dumilani and Dumelang friends, family and passersby welcome to our blog. As we are beginning to move forward in our life journey together we thought it would be nice to find a way to keep everyone up to date with our progress. Many of you have been with us from the beginning of our lives together. We are on our way to the US very soon and are not sure what life has in store for us on “that side” but we want to keep yall with us as we live, love, learn, laugh (thanks Leslie for that one) and grow together. Since we have friends and family all over the place in the world and we want to keep in touch with you all, we thought in this world full of technology a blog would be the best way to do so. Botswana crew we are not going forever, there is no way we could leave and never return. US crew hear we come and we know you are ready for us.

Luv you all!!
